Sugar doesn't dissolve very well in gasoline, so the main problem is it will clog the fuel filter. Get as much of it out of the tank as possible and expect to go through a few filters.

It could be worse. A friend of mine in high school had his truck suddenly start running so badly it was undrivable. He took it to a shop and they found a gallon of water in the tank!
