Subject: Sudden Loss of Power
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Folks,

I was driving home from work yesterday, delighting in the fact my fridge was running happily on propane, when suddenly my van lost power. It was so sudden my first thought was i accidentally flipped on the A/C.

Basically the van has reverted to the exact performance i had before my VW Guru advanced the timing: it stumbles at low RPM and has no pickup at all.

I checked the distributor... it is still tight. There is nothing flopping around i can find.

The cap, rotor, coil, wires and plugs are all less than two months old. Could this be a Hall Sender problem? The performance since setting the timing at about 7 deg BTDC has been GREAT! The sudden change back to what it is now is quite a bummer.

Thanks,

-jspeer '89 Westy GL, "Mystery Machine"
