Could be a miss-adjusted or defective throttle switch. If the switch is closed with the throttle open, you are going into fuel cut0offabove 1600 RPM.

My 88 GL has what feels a bit like a "miss" at cruise when the throttle is "Feathered".

When accelerating it runs smooth. When deccelerating (in gear) - foot completely off the gas pedal - it runs smooth. But with light foot pressure, as in going down a slight grade or cruising level ground, it has a bit of roughness or "skipping - missing".

Anyone have any ideas?
