<<Any recommended methods?>> Before you start, buy an 8 X 1.25 MM Helicoil Kit. Accurately fabricate a drill plate with two holes the same center-to-center spacing as the head exhaust flange tappings. Size one hole for the Helicoil tap drill and the other at 8MM. Cut the pipes away as close to the exhaust flanges as possible. Try to remove as many exhaust flange fasteners as possible without bitching the tappings.

<< pitfalls ?>> The eight possibilities of stripping the head tappings and using aftermarket exhaust parts. A stripped hole or two might be unavoidable, but the dreck sold by the aftermarket merchants certainly is.
