Gordy Looks like you need to replace the voltage regulator-the black unit held on by 2 screws, mounted on the back of the alternator. The brushes could be worn . Also check the tracks they ride on-mine 1 badly worn, hence a new alternator. Hope this helps Gerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "gordy jones" <westyutah@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 11:34 AM Subject: battery light question
> I have noticed that when driving in town, when I come to a stop light and I am idling, occasionally the battery light seems to faintly come in and out. it is not fully bright and it does not stay on, it just flickers faintly and then it goes away and the car seems to function just fine but I hate having to wonder what might be wrong. Also, some of the times this happens, the OX light will do the same thing at the same time. any ideas? this is an air cooled 1983 auto trans. > > thanks, > > ~Gordy > > > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo! - We Remember > 9-11: A tribute to the more than 3,000 lives lost |
