Timing Adjustment for the Digijet: Bypass the idle stabilizer as you said. Do not disconnect Temp II--that is a Digifant thing I believe. Also do not disconnect any vacuum lines, which is mentioned in the Haynes book. Timing is changed by turning the distributor. Make sure the idle is correct so that the centrifugal advance isn't doing anything. Stock timing mark is the "V" on the pulley. This 5 ATDC. Line it up with the case split. (I assume you are using a timing light.) I highly recommend more advance for your 1.9. I am running 5 BTDC. This is 10 degrees advanced from stock. You will need to re-adjust your idle speed as you advance your timing. The "U" mark is TDC. You can use this to determine your timing set point 5 BTDC would be equidistant in the other direction (further to the right). I scribed a mark on my old pulley. My new Boston Bob engine conveniently came with a 2.1 pulley and the 5 BTDC "V". Not sure what wire you are talking about, but the Bentley has a good diagram of the wiring harness.

when i was inspecting my spare wiring harness last night i noticed that there was a wire with a female spade right around the hall sender wires going to dist.i also notice that on my van, there is a male spade on the right of the distributer. i am wondering if i am missing a wire? i don't see the same on my harness although i guess it could be tucked up in the sheath, anyone know what that wire does??? one more question, im not real clear on how to set the timing, besides pluging the idle plugs together and unpluging the temp 2, is this accomplished by loosening and rotating the distibuter? or is that for setting the idle? thanks in advance for any input...
