Absolutely true, BUT, there is a solution ! Remove the rubber from the step. Clean the area well and repaint with rust proof paint if necessary. Then do not glue back the rubber step. It will stay there on its own. The rubber tits under will hold it there. Flood the step with Krown oil now and then and rust will never occur there again ! Every time I wash my van with a pressure washer I give those step mat areas a spritz knocking out all the debris. I then shoot a good spritz of Krown in there.
