Make sure they had all the fluids changed reasonbly close to schedule. I went on a wild goose chase to FLA earlier this year for a cherry '93 MV (40,000 miles). The original owner never had the coolant changed, or brake fluid for that matter. I walked. It was an expensive lesson, but hopefully cheaper than buying the van.
