Owen, If you go back and trace the thread of emails on this you will realize that this is a group order from Jerry West ... somewhere in Texas. Jerry builds his own AC aftermarket systems and does not have any pictures or partnumbers of the particular components for the Vanagon. He rolls his own. We are all jumping in, pretty much site unseen, and throwing in about 600 US greenbacks to attempt to get a front AC rigged up. There is a trust factor since Jerry appears to understand AC systems and most of all Vanagons and has a good solution idea, on e-mail at least. Jerry also sells a larger capacity compressor which you may be interested in acquiring for your defective system. There is probably a part number for that since this is manufactured by the compressor makers. The Jerry AC rig, taps into your existing AC piping circuit and installs under the dash, above the glove box, supposedly without cutting, slicing or dicing. It uses the existing fresh air vents. Sorry, he says, you don't need no stinking pictures. Since this is a custom unit, I do not think that you will find any "deals" in Mexico for any of these parts or components. Throw your $550 into our sombrero and join the club if you still can. We will let you drink the worm at the bottom. You too will be cool, not only down your neck but also in your face. Warm Cheers, Joel Loving my 89 Syncro Westy in Rochester NY

The AC compressor was dead when I bought it. I have been trying to solve the air and at the same time address the limitations of a rear ac. I wonder if someone has pictures of the system components from EuroAir and the manufacturer name / part numbers? I would like to check into getting this work done in Mexico (6 hours away) and this information would help greatly.

I took my 90 Saab 900TC to a guy my father recommended in Matamoros, Mexico. He took apart the Saab compressor, put new seals in, used an off the shelf relay and thermostat and had it up and running for $240.00 and 3 hours. My logic is that there are a gork of VW's in Mexico, the parts and labor should be cheaper. Any thoughts?
