For those that have USAA automobile insurance and aren't aware, for a $4 per
vehicle per policy period charge, you get their Towing and Labor coverage.
This embodies one hour of mechanical labor at the scene (that they know
anything about Vanagons will be a different matter), towing to the nearest
repair facility (they seem to be flexible in that they'll realize special
needs, not just drop you off at the nearby mega Chevy store and c-ya!),
they'll deliver (you pay for) gas, oil, new battery or change your tire
roadside, too. I think locksmithing is in there if you manage to lock
yourself out.
