<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>Sorry, my e-mail to you bounced. The coolant distributor is where the thermostat housing is. If yours is the original from the van, I wouldn't drill it. It might crack. I drilled mine, bought new this year, the one in the van was bad anyway. No sealants here, I used a o-ring and a ring connector to ground it.<BR><BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>Hi Hector: <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>Thanks for getting back to me. Can I ask you...what is <DIV></DIV>the "coolant distributer"? Also..did you have to use <DIV></DIV>teflon tape or any sealant on the sender to make sure <DIV></DIV>the seal was good? The sender I have is a 10mm one <DIV></DIV>originally meant for the Bug...is this what you <DIV></DIV>installed? <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>Thanks for any help you can pass along... <DIV></DIV>kevindobrien@yahoo.com <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>--- Hector Zapata <VOLKYLESS@HOTMAIL.COM>wrote: <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <HR>

<DIV></DIV> <DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>Hello All: <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>My mechanic has been trying to install an <DIV></DIV>VDO Coolant <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>temp gauge in my 1990...I bought the gauge <DIV></DIV>and a <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>T-fitting along with a 10mm screw-in sender <DIV></DIV>from the <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>same outfit (Egauges). It was suppose to <DIV></DIV>all go <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>together (so I could use both gauges)...but <DIV></DIV>the <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>mechanic has informed me that the original <DIV></DIV>temp <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>sending unit (to the dash) is a large plug <DIV></DIV>type...not <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>the 10mm type that would fit in one side of <DIV></DIV>the T <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>fitting. Any suggestions as to how I might <DIV></DIV>make this <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>work? Anywhere else I could screw the VDO <DIV></DIV>sender into <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>to get a reading on coolant? <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>What U did to my 1990 was drill a hole to the </DIV>coolant distributor and tap it for the sender. I did <DIV></DIV>this same thing to my wife's Jetta about six years <DIV></DIV>ago, not a drop lost from there. You have to remember <DIV></DIV>that you have to ground the sender, otherwise it won't <DIV></DIV>work. In my van the VDO is the only way to tell the <DIV></DIV>coolant temp, the stock gauge stopped working a while <DIV></DIV>ago. Good luck to you. <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </DIV>Hector <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV><BR clear=all> <HR> MSN Photos is the <DIV></DIV>easiest way to share and print your photos: <A DIV <>href='http://g.msn.com/1HM1ENPR/c156??PI=44356'&gt;Click <DIV></DIV>Here</A><BR> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>__________________________________________________ <DIV></DIV>Do you Yahoo!? <DIV></DIV>Yahoo!
