I just replaced my original steel pipes with.....new steel pipes. What are you going to do with copper? You would need a dozen solder joints to make it to the front. It is a pretty tight fit, even putting the steel pipes back in. 1-1/4" copper would be slightly larger. Steel is fine if you keep the coolant up to snuff. The inside of my 18 year old pipes were in great shape. Only one of the ends was rusted off because of how it was clamped to the firewall--it rusted from the outside in. They are not cheap, about $150 each, but why redesign the wheel? They are bent perfectly, everything lines up, they have nice hose barbs on the end. After I installed mine, I spray painted all the spots where it got scraped working them into position. I suspect they will last at least as long as the original. Jay
