Larry My usual comments on smog stuff wrt diesels... if you have a currently-diesel van, and you put the overland kit in it, no one will ever know and smog should not be a problem. What you're doing is thoroughly illegal, but the probability of getting caught is pretty small, and from my perspective you're actually doing a _good_ thing that the law simply doesn't recognize. If your van is NOT currently diesel, and there is smog testing in your area, don't do this without some serious research, as there are federal and state regulations that come into play, and you will run headlong into them because the van will have to be re-titled in order to be eligible for diesel emissions testing.
