I posted to the list a few weeks ago about my '90 that was running poor when cold. Replaced the temp II sensor to no avail. Condition was stumbling / no power when cold, exhaust had liquid/mist coming out with it. Drive it up near the redline in first and all's fine. I'm pretty sure it was a coolant leak into a cylinder. Went out to go to work last week and saw a wet spot on the driveway for the first time - I guess I now know why I smelled coolant when starting every once and awhile! At any rate, I have a few questions to those who've been here before: - any idea how many miles I've got before the head gasket fails completely? - what engine (besides the TIICO, I'm moving to CA soon) will fit in the engine bay without modifying the sheet metal and use the diesel mounting pieces? - I have a friend who is CONVINCED that an Audi 80/90 or Digifant Fox will fit. Has anyone installed one of these? Thanks in advance for any help. Time to go off and read the archives... John 90 Carat |
