Not sure if this is any help after Steve's post with the paint code LA8A. (I have filed that one away in my vanagon list keepers folder)

I own an 84 Westy with the exact same paint scheme as part of the wolfsburg package. The PO had all the service records including the dealer window sticker. It shows

Year:1984 Model: Vanagon Model No:253A71 Color Code 485662

Under the manufacturers suggested retail price subsection it lists Merian Brown/Toscana Beige Paint with no codes
