Subject: Ideas wanted...Dreaded speedo/housing breakage repair
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Has anyone found a fix/re-engineer for the problem of the speedo breaking out of the back of the instrument cluster (housing) ?

I have pushed my speedo trip reset one too many times and now have the speedo broken out of the back of the housing again. I have a new one I salvaged from a 85 but am trying to reinforce it before putting it in.

New ones from VW are $200.00 and will eventually degrade (plastic) from sun and heat here in AZ. Although I bet they will last a bit longer than salvage yard ones.
