Now, the hill might be a problem. However, I tend to be with Mathew on this one. I did a long block replacement 4 or 5 years ago on my '81 Westy. I had considerable mechanical experience, but none with VWs of any kind. I was working by myself, one-handed, since the manual was in the other hand pretty much the whole time. I was on dirt, with one of those blue tarps spread, and had a standard floor jack and a pair of jackstands. I marked every wire, hose, etc. that I disconnected with tape, writing where it went with a felt pen. I put every bolt and nut into marked plastic bags. Time from start to finish to remove the engine was about two hours.
