Subject: TDI or diesel engine replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Has anyone replaced their gas Westy engine with a diesel of any kind?

Any long term experiences?

Is there a tome of knowledge somewhere on this topic?

How would this effect my existing gas lines?

Has anyone tried the 50 degree installation? I would hate to modify my bed for the vertical install. Is the vibration and noise a problem? Are there any reliability issues with this installation?

Does anyone know a mechanic that has done this before?

What kind of fuel mileage do you get? (please let me know which engine you have)

I am considering either a TDI, like my 2001 Beetle, or a Subaru engine.

I have heard mileage of up to 30 MPG.

On an unrelated issue, Busdepot.com has a nice genuine VW 4 round headlight grill from Africa. I have not installed it yet. I know their website navigation needs work, but good outfit otherwise.

Thanks,

Dana 85 Westfalia
