What year Jetta? Assuming it is an OBD1 or OBD2 Jetta III you can get this signal from the back of the speedometer where the cruise control usually plugs in. It just needs a pulsed signal from a reed switch. You can leave it disconnected and it will still work - the problem is that the VAG 1551/2 will squeal on you.
