I use the method outlined in the Bentley; retrieving the C clip and wrist pin through the coolant outlet port in the side of the water jacket. A major PITA. I would rather take a beating than pulling the wrist pins. Just this weekend, while working on "Elvis" (again), I made a tool to facilitate this job. I found a wooden dowel that fits inside the wrist pin and added ax x-acto blade that scrapes off the build up in the piston that makes it impossible to pull out the pin. Worked pretty good.
