Subject: near disaster and almost a digi-fit
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

Hi All,

Well I nearly caused myself digi-fit. The short version is: I way lying on my back under the engine contorting myself in different positions to get the CV join off. the drivers side came off band I found that the seal to the tranny under the cv joint was off too. (nothing like adding tranny oil to dirt on the garage floor) The I started on the other side... after an hour or so of trying to get the joint off I changed positions and sat in front of the tire and looked directly at it (on the tranny) and it then struck me... I had been tightening the bolts.. no wonder they weren't coming off and I nearly stripped two of them.

I found it was easier to disconnect it from the tranny first and then the hub (using the hand brake to keep the shaft from turning)

After me and my 3lb sledge couldn't get the joint off I am heading to a friend for a press tomorrow. in any case the new shock look good.
