I am trying to get my 90 2WD GL back on the road after an overheating incident that partially melted the lower thermostat housing. I have replaced the housing, o-rings, suspect hoses and checked thermostat operation (I have an 80d) and have a new thermo-switch ready to install, only I can't find the location! I thought it might need a switch since the fan seemed to turn on less an less leading up to the meltdown. The fan used to turn on much more frequently in the past. My Bentley (page 19.12) indicates that the switch should be on the left of the radiator and can be found by "moving the cardboard air deflector to side" The bleeder screw is there but no thermo-switch or wiring. Am I missing something? Please help! As a side note; this is the van I experimented with using dex-cool orange coolant two years ago. I found sludge and white particles when performing the coolant change at 18 months (24K miles) and decided to flush the system and return to using the blue Autobahn coolant which has been in there for close to 6K miles before the overheating incident that brought me to this point. Is this related? Who knows. Thanks in advance for any comments, suggestions or answers! Salud!
