Same here. I've had my Vanagon in some *very* isolated places where it would easily take more than 2 hours to get professional help (yes, even with cell phones). 2 hours is a kind of rule of thumb for groups I'm associated with. If help is further away than that, it's prudent to have some FA stuff AND the training to go with it. (Sometimes, even "second" aid.) Of course, we all have different requirements & opinions wrt to acceptable risk. But a reasonable FA kit and a few evenings/weekends spent learning how to use it is not a too big an investment, IHMO.
