Don't forget that you can only adjust the pressure upward while the manometer is connected -- adjusting downward will appear to have no effect because gas at the higher pressure is already in the system. If you overshoot, you have to back off the regulator screw, then disconnect the manometer to release the pressure before reapplying it for another measurement. Or you could rig up some sort of constant-bleed arrangement.
