Subject: bathroom in a bus.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

i was in a junkyard on sat and i found a '71 camper from california (still had cali plates) with a toilet in it. a real toilet - porcelain and all. and no it wasnt just sittin in there.. this was a strange conversion - actually well done - the bus was a '71 walkthru with a fiberglass highroof - not adventurewagen, but a fixed highroof nonetheless.. it said "Vacation Van" on the back of the highroof..anyone heard of this conversion before?? it had the sliding door welded shut and a "bathroom" behind the front pass seat.. you entered the van from the front doors! the bathroom was a seperate little "room" with a door and tiled walls and a toilet and a shower and a sink in it.. you basically stood up (yes it was tall enough to stand up in (as long as you are 5'10 or under) right in front of the toilet and could get a shower..there was a regular shower head above you with H and C knobs and all. the water heater was LP powered, and there was a kitchen sized 4 burner gas stove in there as well as a LP fridge next to the sink. cabinets galore, switches and gadgets all over the place.. this thing had a whole extra switch panel on the dash for god knows what.. the front and rear bumpers were the originals, but extended off the van to make storage platforms on top... all kinds of antennas and even a extra exterior storage compartment in the drivers side from the outside a-la greyhound bus. it had a corvair aircooled flat 6 in it. the sad thing is that it wasnt even rusty, and it really wasnt touched...

wierd..

chris
