This same generator has been available at Home Depot at a similar price. My friend from Ohio bought one and we took it with us to the Great Plains Star Party. We only used it once... to power a microwave. The rest of the time we relied upon the solar panel on my Westy. The generator performed well, but it was a bit noisy. I would hesitate using it in a camping area with a lot of campers nearby who were in the woods for the peace and quiet.

On the other hand, I've heard the 1 kw Honda generator -- or rather, not heard it. It's extremely quiet... but it's also much more costly.

BTW... Our Komet side tent was a real luxury on this campout. We cooked in the tent and generally used it to get out of the sun and to store equipment. Photos of the tent may be found at the following link: (scroll down about half way)
