About 10 years ago I worked as a field geologist in the antarctic for 2 mos. We used "Scott Tents" which are floorless pyramid tents with a tunnel entry. For a floor we used a canvas tarp (or nothing). The adavantage I was told is during extreme winds (Catabatic and the like) if the tent blew away and was heading for a cravasse field - you wouldn't be in it.

I know - real relavant to most people's Vanagon experiences. ;-) But may be of interest who are worrying about the vanagon blowing away while they are in their side tents!
