Hi Clay: This is the reason for the head light upgrade. That is, putting a couple relays in the headlight system so ALL the current goes to the lights, and the switch acts like a switch INSTEAD OF A RELAY. The problem is the headlight switch. It's shitty. Badly engineered and when it gets hot....well, you know the rest. My '91 Westy has done the same thing on several occasions. My initial "fix" was to run without the brights so as not to heat up the switch. You'll find the "fix" at: http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/mechanic.htm That's Frank Condelli's site. A bunch of really great information there.

Vehicle is a 87 Weekender

So a week ago as I was blasting towards Lake Powell for a weeekend of debauchaery, it was past Midnight, cruising around 75 when I dimmed the lights and- BAM- no headlights! I pulled back on the dimmer lever and the high beams came on,. If I held the lever back in "flash" position I had lights otherwise I was in stealth mode, disconcerting. I cruised that way until I could find a side road. I pulled off took a deep breath. I switched the lights off and on and they came back on, no problem. Is there a circuit breaker somewhere I don't know about? So far no problems, everything works fine.

P-Mail me for the "wall-o-mud" story from the rain storm that night.
