Upand down is the big test for ball joints.............sounds more like a worn tie rod...........the ball joints are supposed to move a little.

I was rotating my tires today and I noticed a small knocking sound if I gripped the top and bottom of the tire and pushed and pulled. (same sound on both sides) There seams to be a small amount of movment at the upper ball joint. Could someone point me to a site where someone has written up the procedure for replacing these parts. Also what else should I look for while I have this apart, bushings, lower ball joint etc. Thanks George '85 westfalia
