Subject:      A/T torque converter seal replacement

Hi,

Has anyone out there replaced a torque converter seal in their automatic transmission? I have my tranny pull and I'm putting the seal back in. The seal seat is huge, it's about 1" deep and the seal is only about 1/2" deep. Bently says to push the seal in as far as is will go. Is this correct?

Since there is so much extra room would it hurt to put an extra seal in the additional space? Double sealing! I don't want to pull my tranny again if this seal doesn't work perfect. Do these seals need to be continually lubricated by the A/T fluid while the engine is running? If so the second seal would just burn itself up. I would love to hear all opinions.
