Same as for any other tire on a Vanagon (at a given size).

185-14 = 40 front 48 rear 205/70-14=36 front 40 rear

if you don't maintain the correct pressure, your tires will suffer. Too low a pressure and the tread on the outsides will wear prematurely. Too high a pressure and the tread in the middle will wear prematurely. In addition, too low a pressure will cause the sidewalls to flex more than is good for the tire, and you could a catstrophic blowout of the tire (less of an issue with reinforced sidewalls, but still a possibility if you run too low a pressure.)
