If you have the usual cork gaskets which go for about a buck a pair, definitely install new ones. The last set I bought were Fel-Pro brand, MADE IN USA. They appear to be a cork/rubber composition, gray in color with more rubber than cork in the composition. They cost a lot more than the others, but they also have more presence. For example, they fit the valve cover exactly without a bunch of gasket glue to hold them in place. I would use THESE again after only 500 miles.
