Subject: More Info on Copper Core German Radiators
Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I have had a few folks inquire about my Copper Core German Radiators for the Vanagon so I thought I would post my further discoveries on them. First of all I can't swear to it, but I think they are VW radiators. In the exact same spot where my aluminum VW radiators have the VW/Audi emblem these have a spot where some wording has been ground off. I have seen this a bunch of times on other parts and it almost always means that they have ground off the VW emblem because of some fear that VW will sue them for selling their parts at lower than dealer prices.

Secondly here are the specs on the aluminum and copper radiators respectively: Aluminum 10 fins per inch, Copper 12 fins per inch Aluminum rows of tubes 44, Copper rows of tubes 43 Aluminum Height of core 16 3/4", Copper Height of core 17 1/4" Aluminum Thickness of Core 1 5/8", Copper Thickness of Core 1 3/4" Aluminum weight about 15 lbs, Copper weight about 30 lbs Aluminum no reinforcement, Copper has two reinforcing vertical steel straps

One last thing. If you look in the hole for the fan switch you can see a major difference between the aluminum radiator and copper radiator. You can see that the tubes on the aluminum radiators are one wide tube that goes from one side to the other. The copper radiator has two tubes side by side that make up one row. So the aluminum radiator has 44 rows and therefore 44 tubes. However the copper radiator has 43 rows but 86 tubes. I would imagine the latter would be more efficient.

So there it is, more than you ever wanted to know about Vanagon radiators. If you want a copper "Made in Germany" probably VW radiator, I am running the List Special on these for $195 right now until they run out. I have a few but if you want one please let me know as soon as you can. If you want the aluminum ones we have them for the same price.
