I don't know if it will work for you and you may have already tried the strong stuff, but Mavel Mystery Oil did not work for my noisy lifter. I used some stuff specifically for noisy lifters made by Gunk or someone like that. It cured my lifter.Ran it for a half hour on the highway then changed the oil. YMMV Joe Todd Last wrote:Can the hydraulic lifters in the 2.1L motor be removed and replaced without having to replace any other valvetrain components? I seem to have a noisy lifter, and even after a number of tries with mystery oil and the like, it is still noisy. Its usually worst when cold and first started - it does improve somewhat after driving a few hundred miles, but I can still hear the noise. I was wondering if I could remove them with the motor in place, clean or replace them, and be on my way.
