Hi all, I have purchased a used Westfalia poptop that came off of a 1982 Joker Transporter Camper... I cleaned it all up nice, and painted it with a boat paint (2 part epoxy paint in a light gray), bought stainless steel screws etc. so there won't be rust stains all over it, and just found a place where I can get the gasket for about 6 bucks a meter.... All is going well at this point. Yesterday though, I placed the entire thing on top of my 1987 Wolfsburg Vanagon (Passenger model... NOT camper) and while the luggage rack portion seems to be a really nice fit.... THE MAIN PART OF THE POPTOP IS TOO WIDE!!! Is this possible? I thought that all the roof widths were the same for these Vanagons... Or maybe I am doing something really stupid, or completely wrong. I didn't fasten anything, and have not cut the roof yet. I would love to hear any input as to whether or not a poptop can really be too wide... I have a few photos which I will post once I get a few more minutes... but for now I just wanted to get some basic info from the list... especially those who have put a Westy Poptop onto a passenger Vanagon. Thanks! RSF IMPORTANT!!! In order to reply to me, you must have the word "FISH" somewhere in the subject line of the email.
