Hello List,

 

I am a newbie for the 4th time.  I just bought my 4th vanagon, a 1989 GL
and was immediately reminded why I love vanagons.  It is not the fact
that we need a list just to stay on top of all the little quirks that we
all love so much, but the people who drive them.  As I began the drive
home, the buzzer/oil light problem reared its ugly head. As I sat in the
parking lot of a truck stop trying to decide whether or not I really had
an oil problem, I was approached by a family who expressed genuine
excitement about my new van purchase.  We talked for 20 minutes about
their vans, the vans I had owned before and about the oil light problem.
It was a reminder to me that the community is a big draw.  It always has
been.  I for one appreciated it.  

 

Now to the problem.  My clutch pedal is sticking on the up stroke.  It
feels like it is physically catching on something as it returns to the
up position.  I can not see any damage to pedal itself or the master
clutch cylinder.  It is drivable but sometimes the clutch hangs just
before the clutch engages, making driving in traffic a little
disconcerting.  

 

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
