If I remember right, plumbing is the only sector in Europe that does not use Metric but English units.

Can't you use these flexible stainless steel hoses with wire mesh on the outside (forgot what its called)? They're more expensive but bending would not be an issue ... Sounds too easy, I bet there's something fundamentally wrong with this idea.
