For my conversion, I just cut out one of the ribs in the metal engine cover and flattened the ridge in the cover with a hammer. The boost enrichment aneroid fit underneath and did not touch the lid. The lid remained flat. It's close fit, but it worked. Regarding the oil return line, I just installed a fitting on the oil pan at or just above the oil level. Never had any problems with drainage. That was 10 years ago so I don't remember anything else.
