Hi gang, Just my $.02 on the fuel issue; I've had more success with using 87 octane and backing the timing off a degree or two, than using 91 octane and running the prescribed timing... engine runs cooler, NO pre-ignition (pinging, knock, etc.) Mileage did not change a bit. The whole idea behind premium fuel is to prevent pre-ignition, which is an uncontroled explosion of the fuel/air mixture, as opposed to the desired burn rate of the mix. Turbocharged or high-compression H.O. engines NEED premium fuel. Ours do not, if they are in proper tune. Spend the extra money you would pour into your tank on a new set of plug wires or something useful (In-dash DVD, maybe?). Jerry McCavitt '86 Syncro GL 15"
