Actually, we live in SE Arizona, at 4200' of elevation, and we are climbing into mountains in less than 20 miles no matter which way we go. All of our favorite campgrounds are either above 7000' or below 2000' (winter low and summer high -- it's always nice weather within an hour from here). As a result, we spend most of our travelling going either up or down hill. My '81 Westy is no speed demon, but it does fine. If I'm in a hurry, I take a different vehicle.
