Heck I've got a 2.0 Aircooled '78 Westy. I've pulled my BEETLE over the TN mountains (2K feet elevation) from here to Chattanooga at 55 mph. Of course the hill climbing wasn't at 55 but the rest of the time it did fine.

No, not exactly a waterpumper with my foot on the floor at 89 mph with the air on pulling the Master Craft but my old Westy does just fine.
