I recently bought a 1990 Vanagon recently which needed a replacement engine. After that was done I experienced the oilbuzzer deal. Exceed 2,000 RPM and she buzzes. Spoke to Rich at my local VW shop Tassi's and gave me the following advice.

Disconnect pressure sensor (the one at the oilpump out back) at connector on top of engine. Ground the connector to the engine block. It the problem goes away while it's grounded, the problem is the probably the sensor. If not, it's the controller.

I never got a chance to ask what the "controller" is. Once the buzzing went out with his test, I assumed it was the sensor. I replaced it. Problem is gone.

Since Kevin has replaced his sensor, perhaps his problem is this printed circuit board (aka controller) that Rich is talking about.
