Motor HoneyR is the brand name of a viscosity improver sold at most FLAPS. There are other brands like Stop SmokeR or STP (blue bottle). Basically (though I'm no chemist) these are just VERY LONG chain petroleum molecules which essentially "thicken" the oil, and make it stickier.

The down side is that there is really no control over what the final viscosity of the oil in your pan becomes, so you could be running what is essentially 50w, and if it gets cool out, you could have problems. Aficionados scorn such additives on general principal. I love Motor Honey for worn out motors though.

What is motor honey and is there any downside to its use?? --- why the "(double gasp)"??

Anyone else used this stuff??

Thanks, Doug
