Oh yeah brother. My wife has a New Beetle and we wave at others quite often and most NB owners just look at you like your stupid. However, if we are out of the car and another owner happens by, they actually talk to us.

Vanagon people are definately hit and miss. About 50% are indeed concentrating on "something" other than my dumbass giving them the "peace" sign or whatever. The other 50% wave back gleefully.

I have an A2 GTi, pretty much every other GTi I see will wave and some A3 GTi's even. Most A4 people don't know their breed's heritage and look at you like your stupid (refer to New Beetle scenario).

I used to have a vintage 1971 Ford Bronco. Holy crap, I not only had every other vintage Bronco wave but I have actually had people turn around and pull me over to talk Broncos. Kinda fun and annoying at the same time.
