I'm using the 15" wheels (and larger tires) on my 7 passenger Syncro (the GoldBrick), which also has the Tiico inline 4 engine. Prior to switching the wheels/tires, the acceleration was noticably better than stock. With the SA wheels, the acceleration is marginally better than the stock wheels and OEM engine.

In short, there is a DEFINITE and noticable affect on acceleration. On the other paw, I'm not driving the GoldBrick for drag racing and I like both the looks and the added ground clearance I enjoy with the larger tire/wheel combo.
