Hi Bob. I just replaced the heads on my 90 Vanagon. The heads I took off seem to be in good shape, I see no etching in the surface, however, there are very tiny cracks between the valves. According to the Bentley these crack do not hurt the performance of the head. The engine has 176k miles and this is the only work that has been done of it. Do you think the heads are worth rebuilding and if so how much would you charge? Are there any modifications you would recommend. We are thinking of "blueprinting" our engines as we have to repair them. The family owns two 86 Syncros, three 87 Syncros and the 90 Carat, so spare parts are worth keeping around.

I have the original shipping boxes the new heads came in, so shipping should not be a problem.

Thanks
