Well, for the hell of it, I did a few time trials with my 14 year old daughter doing the time measurements. This is just in response to the postings last week of 0-60 mph times by the air-cooled addicts. By way of reminder, My Westfalia is an 1982 former diesel, running a 1.8L 8V Digifant II engine from a 1990 GTi with the original DZ transmission and 215/75x15 Yokohama Geolander AT+ tires. The numbers include 300 pounds of passenger and driver, 26.3 gallons of fuel (just filled up), portapotty and regular camping hardware ready to go. Speedometer calibrated. Shift points at 6500 rpm. Using AMS Digifant II chip and 91 octane fuel. Average of four runs (two in each direction) on the 210 Freeway in the Pasadena, CA area. Anyway average was 20.2 seconds. Longest run was 21.4, shortest was 18.9. 60 mph in my system corresponds to just about 6000 rpm in third.
