The stand-alone LCD TVs I looked at (Bestbuy, etc.) were VERY costly ($1500).  Costco is
currently selling an Envision 17" TFD for $750 that has 450-1 contrast, and a built in tuner.
It hooks to your computer, runs at 1280x1024, and also hooks to cable or composite video.  It
will put a TV picture PIP in a window on the desktop, or full screen, has speakers, and even
has a remote.  Nice unit -- I have been using it for a couple of months now.  It connects to
the 120v power with one of those power converters in the cord, and the power converter says the
output is 12 VDC, so it would probably run from car power.  Has a three year warranty.

Currently have a Computer 17" LCD, but it requires 110V power and a NTSC to VGA converter to
use as a TV display.

Want to run everything off 12 volt and reduce hardware and power requirements.

Next Step is to evaluate 15"-20" Stand-alone LCD TV Displays.
