softer compound... ----------------- clip ----------------- That is exactly it. They are made of softer compound that gets gummy just like the NASCAR and INDY tires. I used to buy race take off tires for about $50.00 the set of 4 from NASCAR folks I knew. They last less than 10K miles on normal street driving at low speeds. I recall the Land Speed Record pursuits and they all had special tires ............. admittedly they were shooting for 400 mph but there was always a lot of test runs made on lesser quality and lesser priced tires. When you go to a pure JET it isn't carbs holding you back its just tires and the loss of gravity that keep you below 800 mph on land.
