I believe there are some 1.8 bar switches out there, and my understanding FWIW is that VW abandoned them because of too many "nuisance alarms" -- or cynically translated out of marketspeak they decided that customer complaints were more important than engine protection in the great scheme of things.

So it should, especially if the alarm is going to go off at 1.8... <g>

Your ghost will no doubt be screwed into a hole near the oil pump. Try replacing it.
